This project was to create a poster as if in a series of literary posters for a company. I chose to do mine on Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven." I wanted to honor Poe's darker and more dreary writing style. I liked the idea of working with shadows and something more photographic. One line of the poem talks about the narrator's soul not being able to rise from the shadows, and I wanted to capture that with the word "nevermore." I cut out letters with a glow forge to create letters I could stand up by themselves and tilt to make the shadows. And I set all the letters on paper with Poe's poem printed onto a tan background to look more vintage. I also used Poe's actual signature. I then added the type at the top and the logo to match the feel of the rest of the poster.
